Foreign Nurses Education Nurse Refresher Course Agenda
Meets The Requirements of the Texas Board of Nursing
Course Description: Competency and skills evaluation of Foreign Educated Nurses required
by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice in the State of Texas after taking
and passing the NECLEX exam.
Objectives:
- Discusses the roles of the Professional Nurses in the United States.
- Review of the nursing process including assessing, planning, implementing, evaluation.
- Discuss Infection Control.
- Identify the Scope of Practice for the Professional Nurse.
- Review of dangerous drugs and high risk drugs.
- Review skills and safe Medication Administration.
- Identify the normal and abnormal finds and, nursing interventions related to assessment
of the patient.
- Review legal and ethical issues related to documentation.
Course Requirement:
- Take and pass the NECLEX Exam.
- Apply for 6 month temporary permit from the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Attend and complete 120 Hours of classroom instruction.
- Attend and complete 140 Hours supervised preceptor clinical.
- Negative Drug Test
- TP Skin test or chest x-ray results
- Social Security card must be presented at orientation, NO COPIES
- Need to bring snack lunch with a drink, copy of your board order and an electronic
device to download your course material, no paper documents will be available at
the site.
- Purchase Malpractice Insurance
Criminal Background Check and Drug and/or Alcohol Testing are Not Required
